Aims and Objectives

Vivekananda Kendra Shiksha Prasar Vibhag : An Overview

Project Objectives:

With the twin objectives of Man Making-Nation Building envisioned by the great Patriot Saint Swami Vivekananda, Vivekananda Kendra Shiksha Prasar Vibhag (VKSPV), Guwahati, an educational wing of Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari administers Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalayas (VKVs). VKVs impart nationalistic education in entire Northeast India save Arunachal Pradesh (where VKVAPT, another educational wing of Vivekananda Kendra, is administering 33 Vidyalayas).

Total Vidyalayas:

Presently VKSPV has under its set-up 26 Vidyalayas (25 in Assam and 1 in Nagaland), all of them co-educational and CBSE affiliated. Among these, there are 4 Vidyalayas financed by various projects, one each at Bokulani, Umrangso, Baragolai and Doyang, and the rest are Self Financed Vidyalayas. It is worth mentioning here that a Vidyalaya named Vivekananda Vidyalaya (in Zirkinding village of Karbi Anglong district of Assam) is also being supported by VKSPV at present.

History:

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari embarked on its educational project Vivekananda Kendra Shiksha Prasar Vibhag (VKSPV) in 2004 in order to effectively administer all the VKVs of Assam and Nagaland that had been running since the inception of the earliest VKV in 1978 at Tinsukia.
